I love mornings. I love the fact that there’s always a new beginning, always a new chance to make things right, another chance to start all over again if you’ve failed yesterday.
In order for the morning to come, night has to come first. About that…we usually say that we are in control of our lives, but can’t you see that when you put your head on the pillow and fall asleep you can’t control anything anymore? Your body is half dead, you can’t protect yourself, you can’t control what you speak and what you do while you’re asleep.
I guess the night reminds us of the fact that we are not always in control, but the morning gives us the chance to do our part.
Besides mornings, i love coffee, good music and poems. Oh, i don’t know what my life would be without poems. Most of the time they help me unravel my feelings and that’s beyond comforting. How Marianne Dashwood said: “And sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.” Sometimes i can’t find a language to express what i feel, but poems and novels help me with that.
Here’s a poem of my favorite Maya Angelou about new beginnings.
On The Pulse of Morning
“Lift up your eyes upon
The day breaking for you.
Give birth again
To the dream.
The horizon leans forward,
Offering you space to place new steps of change.
Here, on the pulse of this fine day.
Here on the pulse of this new day
You may have the grace to look up and out
And say simply
Very simply
With hope
Good morning.”
Be thankful for the new chance you’ve got and make the best out of it. Forgive, go and ask for forgiveness, make peace with someone dear, make good life decisions, change who you were yesterday.
